Prince Edward CI students performed to promote women’s rights and gender equality.
Students at-Prince Edward Collegiate Institute-took an active stance recently to contribute to efforts about violence and abuse awareness.
The original production, "Shine a Light," was a powerful performance by the Senior Drama class. Students performed for 25 minutes, featuring 10 scenes and nine monologues.
They performed in front of survivors of domestic abuse and members of social agencies in Hastings County and Prince Edward County, including Three Oaks Foundation and Quinte Health Care.
The topics ranged from the types of abuse to gender roles, gender equality, what to do about violence, relationships (positive and negative) and causes of violence.
This performance was the second time in two years for the PECI students at the CORE Art Centre in Belleville, commemorating the victims of L'Ecole Polytechnique and promoting women's rights and gender equality.
