Affirmation of Traditional Lands
Erica Charlton, Trustee, Belleville/Thurlow, offered a Land Affirmation.
Swearing in of new student trustee
One new student trustee was sworn in for the term of this school year. Welcome Elio De Luca from Bayside Secondary School. Audrey Maracle, Indigenous Student Trustee, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute; and Maria Nash, Centennial Secondary School are both returning for a second term.

Ontario Public School Boards' Association (OPSBA)
The report provided updates from the OPSBA Board of Directors Planning meeting held on August 20, 2026. This will be Trustee Shannon Binder's final update to the Board, as future reporting will be done regionally.

Board members approved two recommendations related to

- adjustment to meeting schedule
Another recommendation was approved with an amendment related to

Chair's report and trustee sharing
Trustee Erica Charlton welcomed everyone back on behalf of Chair Dr. Kari Kramp.
Chief Executive Officer report
Highlights from this report included the appointment of the Chief Education Officer. The Chief Executive
Officer, Katherine MacIver, will continue to fulfill the role of Chief Education Officer (CEdO).
There was an update on construction projects completed over the summer and ongoing projects.
Staff will have a Professional Activity (PA) Day on September 1, 2026, and the first day of school for students is September 2, 2026.

Graduate and Ontario Scholars report
At the end of June each school year, the names of students who were Ontario Scholars at graduation are submitted to the Chief Executive Officer’s Office. An Ontario Scholar has achieved six Grade 12 credits with an 80% average or higher. In June 2026, 473 students across HPEDSB achieved this provincial recognition. Find out more on page 16 the agenda.
