Dear Families,
I am thrilled to welcome you to the beginning of a brand-new school year with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board! Whether you are joining our community for the first time or returning to familiar school halls, our dedicated educators and staff are eager to see students return on September 2, 2026.
HPEDSB staff have been hard at work preparing welcoming spaces where every student can feel connected, supported, and ready to thrive. We invite you to connect often with your teacher and administrators at school. They are happy to answer any questions and provide support for students to ensure the most successful school year possible. Starting September 1, 2026 a Student and Family Support Office will be able to assist you, in addition to your school, to ensure your questions are answered. A phone number, webform and email address will be available for use and will be posted to our website for September 1.
This year brings a continued focus on the key skills that students need for their future. While reading, writing and math are the foundation, we have heard clearly from families and students that increased financial literacy learning is important. We also know that a continued focus on developing critical thinking skills, especially in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will benefit all students for all pathways. As a whole, skills are all a part of our 2025-2030 strategic plan, Bright Futures, and we invite you to read more about our plan on our website.

- First Day of School: September 2, 2026 (Please note that schools may implement a staggered start for Kindergarten students. Check your individual school for specific details.)
