Inspiring future educators
Kindergarten teams share expertise at Loyalist College
Two dedicated Kindergarten teams recently represented HPEDSB at a Kindergarten Panel Discussion held at Loyalist College on March 12, 2026. The teams—Jannette Moelker and Tracey Alie from Easthill Elementary School, and Megan Woodcock and Amanda Matheson from Trent River Public School—engaged with the college's second-year Early Childhood Education (ECE) class.
The teams shared valuable insights into designing effective Kindergarten programming, which includes a focus on:
• Foundational skills instruction
• Inquiry-based learning
• Purposeful play experiences
A key highlight of the discussion was the teams' reflections on developing and nurturing their vital classroom teacher/designated early childhood educator (DECE) professional partnerships. This model allows them to collaborate daily with the shared goal of strengthening outcomes for our youngest learners.
The visit concluded with the teams participating in a panel discussion, answering questions prepared by the ECE students. The group demonstrated leadership while expertly representing HPEDSB. We extend our sincere thanks to these educators for inspiring the next generation of early childhood professionals.
