April 28, 2022_Students at all HPEDSB schools truly care about others. They were recently recognized by The Terry Fox Foundation for reaching the incredible milestone of $1.2 million, a fundraising total since the early 1980s.

Schools participate in annual Terry Fox Run/Walk events every September. The fundraising tally for the 2021 event is $65,895.

"Part of educating students is to help them learn about giving back and civic responsibility. Participating in a fundraising event like the Terry Fox Run/Walk is a way for students to connect with their communities and support a worthy cause. I am so proud of all HPEDSB students, their families and communities for their contribution and caring," said Katherine MacIver, Director of Education.

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) serves approximately 15,000 students each day at 39 in-person schools (32 elementary, two K-12; four 7-12, one secondary) and one K-10 virtual school. Supporting student achievement is the goal of approximately 1,800 teaching and support staff who, in addition to the contributions of caring volunteers and community partners, share their passion for teaching and learning. The district covers a geographic area of 7,220 square kilometres bordered by Maynooth to the north, Deseronto to the east, Prince Edward County to the south and Quinte West to the west.
