Art In The Pandemic: HPEDSB Secondary Virtual Arts Show happening

Many secondary student artists from across our school board will be celebrated next week for their outstanding creations this school year.

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) will host the first ever Virtual Secondary Arts Show, titled "Art in the Pandemic" on Thursday, June 17 at 6:30 PM. The traditional Secondary Arts Show would have seen its 32nd annual gallery event last spring, with a showcase of exceptional student artwork displayed at the John M. Parrott Art Gallery in the Belleville Public Library. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was unfortunately cancelled.

This year, in an effort to get ahead of the uncertainty of pandemic restrictions, a small committee decided early in 2021 to plan for a virtual arts show this year. The theme "Art in the Pandemic" was chosen to encompass both artwork that is directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic, but also includes artwork that was created during this unique school year. This year's virtual event will be livestreamed on the board YouTube channel, showcasing student artwork in a video format.

We extend an open invitation to our HPEDSB community members and hope that you can join us as we celebrate and appreciate the outstanding artwork of our secondary student artists!
