Professional Activity Days

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) is committed to fostering a culture of excellence and high expectations by enhancing staff potential and professional development experiences to support increased student success, well-being, and achievement. Within HPEDSB, professional development for educators is ongoing throughout the year and takes the form of directed, self-directed, job-embedded, and voluntary learning experiences.

Professional Activity (PA) Days for the 2023-2024 school year

In alignment with provincial priorities, the priority professional learning areas for HPEDSB educators for the 2023-2024 school year are:

  • Reading;
  • Mathematics;
  • De-streaming; and,
  • Safety and well-being, including Trauma-Informed Practices and Human Rights training.

The Ministry of Education’s Policy/Program Memorandum 151 states that school boards must designate three Ministry Priority PA Days and may designate up to four additional PA Days per school year. On these days, while students remain at home, schools are open for educators to take part in professional learning specific to local and provincial priorities.
