Local teen supports keeping kids safe
BELLEVILLE – A local teenager has made a sizeable contribution toward helping teaching young people in Quinte how to be safe.
Bayside Secondary School Grade 10 student Dylan Phillips has donated $10,000 to the Children’s Safety Village – Belleville through a grant he received from the ALVA Foundation’s Family Grant Challenge.

Children’s Safety Village Belleville is an interactive educational organization that delivers safety programs to youth of all ages and abilities in the Quinte region. The Village now provides programming in nine different areas to children from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
The ALVA Foundation is a private family foundation which through the Family Grant Challenge encourages the next generation of their family to be involved in philanthropy. The ALVA Foundation provides funding for programs and services that support children and youth.
Last year Dylan, through the Challenge, donated $10,000 to The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation’ Student Emergency Fund.
Dylan says he remembered visiting the Village while he was a student and Harry J. Clarke Public School. He said when he looked into CSV he realized how critical the programming was in helping young people learn to be safe.
“These days, safety is incredibly important especially for young people,” he said. “So I am very happy to be able to support the work the Children’s Safety Village is doing.”
