Hello families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. We’re excited you have chosen for your child to attend a school of Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board!
This week promises to be quite hot. You can help your child to beat the heat by sending a refillable water bottle to school, dressing in loose clothing, wearing a hat when outdoors and reducing strenuous activities. School staff will be reminding students of these strategies all week, and will be encouraging them to drink lots of water and stay out of the sun, where possible.
We look forward to connecting with students and families to ensure students have the skills and understanding to be successful. We are proud to have had educators and resources that have reflected the science of reading in the Primary grades over the past few years—and that continues this year.
We have made even more enhancements for learning. For example, we have increased support for math learning in our schools. In addition, students can choose their own path from a wide range of courses, including technology and skilled trades options in our high schools.
Most importantly, we have caring and supportive staff in the classrooms, offices and hallways of our schools. Support for students and families is available.
Our staff are ready and happy to help. If you have any questions or need support, please contact your child’s classroom teacher, or the school administrator.
